Fall 2024 Session of Essentials of Occupational Health, Safety, & Disability Management: 

September 10th - October 29th, 2024 (7- week course)

The Fall 2024 course runs (6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.)  from Tuesday, September  10th, 2024 and classes end Thursday, October 24th, 2024 with the final exam held on Tuesday, October 29th, 2024.

The Essentials of OHS & DM Course is a 40-hour certificate program designed to provide participants with an all-around introduction to the profession, ensuring they are equipped with the tools required to be successful occupational health, safety, and disability management professionals. This certificate is aimed at anyone looking to enter the field of Occupational Health and Safety, looking to expand their knowledge of disability management/WSIB/RTW, looking to prepare for the CNA certification exam, as well as those in varied occupational backgrounds. This course can be used towards Mohawk College’s Occupational Health Nursing Program. This course is currently only being offered virtually. The course is offered 3-4 times a year, class size is limited to 25 students.

Course Schedule & Materials:

• Classes will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30-9:30pm.
• Attendance and participation are mandatory – missing more than 2 classes will result in a failing grade. Rarely some classes may be pre-recorded to be viewed at your own convenience but plan as if every class is live and your attendance is required.
• Course materials will be distributed throughout the course and students will be given access to the course platform once the class roster has been finalized.
• Students will be evaluated through assignments, quizzes class participation as well as a final exam. Students must achieve an overall grade of 65% to receive certificate of completion, and/or continuing education credits. 
• Students must obtain permission from program lead to hand in an assignment late.  Submissions 5 days after assignment due date will not be accepted

Course Platform:

• The Essentials course will be hosted on Zoom Virtual Classroom, as well as Google Classroom. You will need a strong internet connection. Video is required to be on during the entire class.
• To take the course students must have access to a computer (no mobile phone use) with Adobe Reader installed.

Note: This course is offered virtually, students are expected to participate in virtual classes, and online discussions, view PowerPoint presentations, and submit assignments digitally.

Refund & Cancellation Policy: 

All cancellations must be submitted by email to: administration@oohna.on.ca with the subject line of “EOHS&DM Course Registration Cancellation.”

• If cancelled up to 15 days before the start date of the course, you will be refunded the full amount.
• Refund cut off date: August 27th, 2024 (no refunds will be processed after this date) 
• Registrations that are cancelled after the course start date are not refundable.
• Refunds will not be provided for registrants who do not attend the course.

NOTE: Attendance and participation are mandatory – missing more than 2 classes will result in a failing grade.
